Epidemiology

Mapping disease to stop it

By Statlas Editorial · 1 min read

Epidemiology is the statistical study of how diseases spread through populations. John Snow (1813-1858, English physician) is considered the father of modern epidemiology after he traced a deadly 1854 cholera outbreak in London to a single contaminated water pump by mapping every case, proving the disease spread through water rather than air, years before germ theory was accepted.
